At the end of May, 2010 the Department of International Health wishes to be an internationally linked and nationally recognized multidisciplinary university centre that:
- Helps health professionals from Finland, other Nordic countries, and several low and middle income countries to manage globalization -related questions in their clinical or other work
- Improves the possibilities and capacity of Finnish and non-Finnish health professionals to work abroad and in international health projects
- Performs and facilitates scientific research on globally important health problems and on topics related to the globalization of health and health care
- Disseminates knowledge on global health, for health professionals and their teachers, for those influencing Finnish health policy in Finland and abroad, and to the general population
- Participates in the alleviation of some globally important health problems
