Starting in January 2009, the research project "Religion and Childhood. Socialisation in Pre-Modern Europe from the Roman Empire to the Christian World" studies the function of religion in the socialisation of children, both in the family group and in the society at large, also examining the longue durée from Antiquity to the Middle Ages.
The project is funded by the Academy of Finland and its researchers are working in the Department of History and Philosophy in the University of Tampere and in the Department of History in the University of Antwerp. The head of the project is doc. Katariina Mustakallio, Director of the Institutum Romanum Finlandiae (2009-2012).
