See Micromovies at Siperia
Short films from the Micromovies competition can be seen at the screenings and also at their own screening venue. The screening and information venue is located at Siperia, a shopping mall just opposite Plevna, the movie theatre. The screening venue is open daily during the festival from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. The screening venue is called the Sonera Micromovie Lounge.
Together with the Tampere Film Festival, Sonera Mspace has reserved PDA equipment for the audience's use. Several types of Micromovies, such as animation, fiction and different experimental works, were sent to the competition. Sixty of these were selected for the actual competition. Some of these sixty can be seen on screen in their own special screenings. However, it is easy to get a first impression or hear more about Micromovies at the screening venue.
Audience Feedback from the Festival
Sonera and the Film Festival work together on the Micromovies competition, which is organized for the first time in 2002. In the future, micromovies can be viewed from wireless mobile devices.
– Co-operation with the Film Festival helps Sonera Mspace to develop mobile and PDA services, says marketing manager Olli Sotka from Sonera Mspace.
– We get valuable audience feedback for development from the festival. We can also bring Micromovies into the audience's consciousness, Sotka continues. The co-operation between Sonera Mspace and the Tampere Film Festival started last summer.
Moving Picture Become More Common in Mobile Devices
Sotka believes that moving picture will become more common in mobile and PDA devices in the near future. This, of course, depends on the technological development of both networks and mobile devices. Traditional media will not disappear in the future. Rather, new technology adds entertainment and art to people's daily lives. Sending moving picture between mobile devices will be commonplace in tomorrow's network services.
The screening venue is open every day during the festival in Siperia from 10 a.m to 8 p.m.
