Research Institute for Social Sciences, University of Tampere, Finland

The Research Institute for Social Sciences - RISS comprises several units with diverse research profiles and operating principles. The common endeavour of the Research Institute is to advance and strengthen the position of research within the University of Tampere. Along with the growth and development of RISS and especially since the early 1980s, many research groups have formed semi-autonomous research units within the Institute. ERP Environment

ERP Environment was established in 1989 to raise the profile of environmental issues amongst a wide audience. As an organisation, ERP Environment is committed to stimulating debate, encouraging critical analysis and furthering understanding in all areas relating to environmental policy, environmental management and sustainable development.

Through its conferences, ERP Environment seeks to establish a forum for discussion and debate on emerging ideas, on new policies and practices and on recent research findings. ERP Environment's conferences are designed to be accessible and informal and aim to build productive partnerships between people working in fields related to environmental policy, environmental management and sustainable development. The ERP Environment & John Wiley and Sons journals to which the selected papers of the conference can be considered include:

Inderscience Publishers

Statistics Finland

Founded in 1865, Statistics Finland is the National Statistical Institute of Finland. Administratively, it operates under the Ministry of Finance. Statistics Finland has a personnel of around 1,100 and it produces over 80 per cent of statistics in Finland.

The Statistical Research and Development Unit of Statistics Finland serves the whole institute by providing methodological and theoretical support for statistics production, development of new statistics and promotion of research activities related to statistics. The Statistical R&D Unit has the special responsibility to ensure that the methods used by Statistics Finland in its statistics production are scientifically solid and sound. The unit also has a variety of international co-operation connections in research, development, consultation and instruction.
