The Technical Communications Programme

Admission

The Technical Communications Programme offers students who are completing their Master's degree a chance to specialize in technical communication, and this will improve their employment opportunities after graduation. The programme is intended for students of the University of Tampere who are majoring in English Translation Studies or English Philology. Most of the courses in the programme are held in Finnish.

Admission to the programme takes place by a separate application, which is organized every other spring. The next application time is in the spring of 2010. In order to be admitted into the programme, students must be registered students at the university of Tampere and their subject studies in either English Translation Studies or English Philology must be completed. If the student's subject studies are in their final stages, admission is considered case-specifically. Preference is given to students majoring in English (Translation or Philology) who have completed a Bachelor's degree. In addition, an essay written in English which is included in the application procedure is taken into account. In case the applicant is majoring in another subject than mentioned above, the admission is considered case-specifically as the whole number of applicants is taken into account as well.

When applying, the student must have a realistic possibility to graduate within the next two years, thus the student should have completed a Bachelor's degree, or be in the final stages of completing the degree. Twenty students are admitted into the programme every year.A personal study plan is drafted for every student who is admitted into the programme and the plan is updated and discussed regularly.
